“Lulu”, a Survivor!
By Lynda

When I saw Lulu at the Brownbread Sanctuary two years ago I just knew that I had to help her. Dinty had rescued 14 of these caged ponies and desperately needed help with their rehabilitation.

As I traveled to pick her up I began to wonder just what I was taking on especially as, when I arrived, Dinty was wearing skull cap and gloves while lunging her.

Much to our surprise, after a quick look at the lorry, she whizzed up the ramp and tucked into the feed in the box. On arrival she settled down straight away and settled quickly into a routine. She boldly coped with farrier, bathing and tacking up as if she had done it all before. It says a lot for this lovely pony that her love of life and people is so strong, when her first two years of life were spent in a dreadful hell hole. She had been so scared that she would ‘climb the wall’ if I came near to her.

Somewhere out there I know there is a family waiting to take this dear pony on loan. She will respond to their love that she so much deserves. Given another year of training she will make a super Pony Club pony or even just give someone lots of fun. If I had had a suitable rider for her She would still be here but the yard seems sadly empty now that she has gone.
